Head-on collision in Meaford closes Highway 26

Collision sends three to hospital with serious injuries

MEAFORD - Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 26 east of Town of Meaford between a pickup truck and a car.   

The collision involved a (blue) pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old male and a (red) car driven by a 34-year-old female and an eight-year-old male passenger present. The collision was a head-on collision. It is unknown at this time the direction of travel for each vehicle.  

Police were assisted at the scene by Grey County Paramedics and Meaford Fire Department. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are attending for the investigation.

The driver of the pickup truck has been transported by air ambulance to hospital with life-altering injuries. The driver of the car has life-threatening injuries and the passenger sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to hospital by ambulance.   

Highway 26 east of Town of Meaford is currently closed as police continue to investigate the collision.
