Driver with serious injuries following head-on collision in Wasaga Beach

Police say that the Black Ford Escape was driving erratically before it collided head-on with a Black Honda Civic

WASAGA BEACH, ON - On Feb. 14, 2020 at approximately 3:25 p.m. members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wasaga Beach Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedic Services were dispatched to a serious head-on collision on River Rd. West & Beck St. in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

The initial investigation revealed, a Black Ford Escape was driving erratically westbound on River Rd. West when it collided head-on with a Black Honda Civic.

The 36-year-old driver, and lone occupant of the Honda Civic sustained serious injury and was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre.

The 40-year-old male driver of the Ford Escape sustained minor injury and was taken to a local hospital where he was released unconditionally until the completion of the Collison team's investigation.

River Rd. West was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured, photographed and collected evidence. The roadway reopened shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses or with persons who may have dash cam video of the crash.
