A fiery three-vehicle collision Tuesday in Clearview Township sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews responded at about 9 p.m. to the crash on Highway 26, between Rainbow Valley Road and Strongville Road, on the Clearview-Springwater border.

When Huronia West OPP arrived on the scene, one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames, police said in a news release. Officers tried to extinguish the fire, which was surrounding the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. Clearview firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire. They were able to remove the driver, who was taken to a Toronto trauma hospital in life-threatening condition.

The two other drivers involved were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.

The investigation is ongoing.
