Unwanted phone calls result in criminal harassment charge

The accused was charged after police learned that he had continued to contact the victim after a warning

MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD - On Jan. 26, 2019 Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of criminal harassment in the Municipality of Meaford after the victim, a 57-year old female, received repeated and unwanted phone calls from a male unknown to her.

Police identified the suspect who was cautioned as to the consequences of this unwanted conduct.

On Jan. 29, 2019 Grey County OPP arrested 32-year-old Tylor Pretswell, of Owen Sound for Criminal Harassment after police learned that he had continued to contact the victim.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Feb. 21, 2019 to answer to the charge.

Prohibited conduct regarding criminal harassment include: repeatedly following from place to place the other person or anyone known to them; repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to them; besetting or watching the dwelling-house, or place where the other person, or anyone known to them, resides, works, carries on business or happens to be; or engaging in threatening conduct directed at the other person or any member of their family.
