WASAGA BEACH – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is aware of a group of car enthusiasts who intend to attend Wasaga Beach over the weekend of Sept. 25-27, 2020.

Aggressive, impaired and distracted driving remain the leading causal factors of injury and death on our roads. Car enthusiasts are asked to practice safe driving behaviours while travelling to Wasaga Beach and on their return home.

Officers will be on patrol to ensure the safety of everyone. Dangerous and illegal behaviour will not be tolerated. Strict adherence to the rules of the road while travelling is expected and a "Strict is Fair" policy will be applied to those who choose not to obey the rules of the road.

"Drive safe and watch your speed when driving through small communities on your way to Wasaga Beach. Don't risk the safety of local residents who are not expecting vehicles passing through at excessive speeds. We want everyone to get to their destination safely. Do your part. Drive safe, sober and within the law."
– Inspector Philip Browne, Detachment Commander, Huronia West Detachment
