Bruce Road 8 closed due to 'high-risk situation' (Update: road reopened)

8:26 a.m. update

On Aug. 19, 2019 at 11:55 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police were called to a high-risk situation, involving a weapon, at an address at Bruce Road 8, South Bruce Peninsula.

OPP secured the area surrounding the residence. As a result, Bruce Road 8, between Bruce Road 14 and Municipal Road, was closed to any traffic.

On Aug. 20, 2019, at 6:59 a.m. a male at the residence was taken into custody by members of OPP Emergency Response Team.

Grey Bruce OPP officers and Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit remain at the scene and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Bruce Road 8 has been reopened to traffic in both directions.

OPP have secured the area surrounding the residence. As a result Bruce Road 8, between Bruce Road 14 and Municipal Road, has been closed to any traffic.

The investigation currently involves multiple OPP resources at this time, including OPP Critical Incident Commander, OPP Negotiators, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit.

Ontario Provincial Police is committed to public safety and are asking members of the public to avoid the area at this time.
