Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP confirmed this afternoon they are investigating a suspicious death in the Georgian Meadows subdivision.

The investigation began this morning at about 8:20 a.m. when officers discovered a woman dead inside a home. Multiple police cruisers were parked near a home on Alyssa Drive, and officers were searching the area.

Initially, police issued an order for more than one Collingwood school to lockdown. The order was lifted within an hour.

According to a news release issued by the OPP at 2:30 p.m., there is "not believed to be a public safety risk."

"Investigators do not consider this to be a random incident," stated the release.

Local residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area.

OPP have not yet confirmed how many or which Collingwood schools went into a lockdown this morning.

A letter sent to parents from Mountain View Elementary School and St. Mary's Catholic School indicated the schools were in a hold and secure this morning. According to the email from St. Mary's that meant all exterior doors were locked, but classes continued as normal.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Collingwood OPP at 705-445-4321.
