Three youth now face charges and a fourth went to hospital with minor injuries after a fight broke out in an intersection near both local high schools.

According to Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police, the incident occurred on Jan. 25 at 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Collins St. and Hurontario St. A video of the event shows a small crowd of students gathered, with shouting and physical violence between some of the youth.

OPP have charged three youth, two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old with one count of assault each. They will have to face the charge in court in Collingwood.

A 14-year-old, identified as the victim by police, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

Police say the fight involved students from both Collingwood Collegiate Institute and from Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School.

"As for the incident, I am not aware of what was said or done prior to the video being recorded or what brought about this reaction, which led to the assault but officers took appropriate actions and now those youth have been charged," stated Const. Martin Hachey in an emailed statement.
