WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snow squall watch in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale

Snow Squalls possible tonight through Saturday morning.

What:

Snow squalls. Reduced visibilities in heavy snow with locally heavy amounts possibly reaching 15 cm.

Where:

Areas south of Georgian Bay.

When:

8 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday.

Discussion:

Snow squalls are likely to develop this evening and weaken around the noon hour on Saturday. The axis of the snow squalls, at this point, appears it will set up west of Highway 400, however, brief periods of heavy snow will be possible on Highway 400 south of Barrie.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
