Santa tours Collingwood neighbourhood for spirit's sake

Our entire Collingwoodlands community came together to celebrate the season in a very special way.

We hosted the “Santa Spirit Tour” on Dec. 5. All families were invited to wave to Santa from their driveways or front lawn.

Mr. Claus was driven around the neighbourhood in the back of his decorated “sleigh” with a police escort. Children young and old squealed with delight. It was a day we won’t soon forget.

In addition, members were given the opportunity to leave donations for the food bank at the end of their driveway and/or e-transfer money to be distributed to a number of charities.

We couldn’t have done it without the help from our amazing “masked up” volunteers who collected food donations as well as letters to Santa along the way.

The best part was the entire tour was socially distanced.

We delivered over 1,500 pounds of food to the St. Vincent de Paul food bank.

The neighbourhood also raised over $2,600 and will distribute it to families in need, Hospice Georgian Triangle and Campbell House.

The outpouring of love and support was astonishing. Everyone came together albeit “not together”. This community sure knows what spirit is.
