Province reports 232 new COVID-19 cases today

One new death is being reported today in Ontario, bringing the total to 2,814 since the pandemic began

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 232 new cases of COVID-19 today, which is up from 213 on Friday and 170 on Thursday.

One new death is being reported today, bringing the total to 2,814. 

To date, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 44,300 cases of COVID-19 and reported 39,717 recoveries, including 119 since Friday. There are 1,769 active cases in the province.

There are 43 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, which is down from 49 in Friday's report. Twelve people are in intensive care, which is also down from 18 yesterday, and eight are on ventilators.

The province has confirmed Ontario labs have processed another 35,618 COVID-19 tests, up from 32,501 on Friday. There have been 3,281,455 tests processed in total. There are 30,491 cases under investigation. 

There are confirmed outbreaks at 17 long-term care homes in the province, which is unchanged since yesterday. There are still 37 confirmed cases among residents, and 39 among staff, which is an increase of three people from Friday.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 748 coronavirus cases in the region, with 707 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 669 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are in hospital — one from Bradford West Gwillimbury and one from New Tecumseth.
