Province confirms 158 new COVID-19 cases today

Public Health Ontario confirmed 158 new cases of COVID-19 today, down from 169 on Saturday.

There were two new deaths confirmed today, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,813. No new deaths were reported Saturday.

To date Public Health Ontario has confirmed 43,161 cases of COVID-19 and reported 38,958 recoveries. 

There are now 1,390 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 52 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 15 COVID-19 patients in intensive care and nine patients on ventilators. 

The province has confirmed Ontario labs have processed another 28,955 COVID-19 tests, up from 28,672 on Saturday.

The province will not be providing updated data for Ontario cases on Monday due to the Labour Day holiday. It will resume its reporting on Tuesday.

As of Friday, Sept. 4, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 716 coronavirus cases in the region, with 680 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 650 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are currently hospitalized in Barrie. 

There are 26 cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County not reported recovered, including 18 in Barrie, three in Bradford, two in New Tecumseth, one in Innisfil, one in Ramara, and one in Essa. There are three active cases currently in Muskoka District.
