New chair for Collingwood hospital board

Barry Goodwin is the new chair of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Board of Directors.

The local hospital board has a new leader. 

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) announced Barry Goodwin as the new chair of the hospital board of directors. He was appointed to the role at the hospital's annual general meeting on June 16. 

"I feel honoured to serve as board chair at this critically important time for CGMH and the entire South Georgian Bay community," said Goodwin in a news release. 

Goodwin joined the board in 2020 and has been a member of the governance, hospital development, and nominating committees. 

Before he and his husband moved to Collingwood in 2019, Goodwin was a professor at the University of Toronto Munk School Global Affairs and Public Policy program. 

His professional background includes work as a senior executive in the Ontario and federal government, including overseeing agencies such as the LCBO and OLD. 

“CGMH welcomes Mr. Goodwin to this new leadership role where his comprehensive knowledge of Board Governance and his extensive leadership experience will prove invaluable during this pivotal time of change,” said Mike Lacroix, CGMH Interim President and CEO, in the newsletter.

The hospital board of directors for 2022/23 includes Barry Goodwin, Cleo Noxon, Geoff Davies, Chris Hoffmann, David Johnston, Keith McQueen, Joe Prosperi, Mark Saunders, MIchael Thompson, and Krista Young. 

Medical staff representatives on the board include Dr. Michael Lisi, Dr. Susan O'Toole, and Dr. Yixin Xie. 

Hospital representatives on the board include Lauren Tindall, and MIke Lacroix.
