Medical officers of health top salary list for local public health units

According to the Sunshine List, the Grey Bruce top doc made over $630K last year, with Simcoe Muskoka's Dr. Gardner making over $360K

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit 

There are 53 Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit employees on this year’s Sunshine List, each bringing in salaries over $100,000. 

In 2019, there were 39 employees with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on the list. 

Topping the list is the chief medical officer of health Dr. Charles Gardner, whose 2020 salary was $363,219 plus $1,138 in benefits. Gardner's salary was reported as $290,144 in 2019. 

He is followed by two associate medical officers of health including Dr. Colin Lee, whose salary is listed at  $277,669 plus $799 in benefits, and Dr. Lisa Simon, whose salary is listed at $331,563 plus $826 in benefits. 

The other staff on the list include three epidemiologists, three dentists, two public health nurses, and 25 management-level staff.

Grey Bruce Health Unit

There are 10 Grey Bruce Health Unit staff on this year’s salary disclosure list, which is down from 12 staff on the 2019 list. 

Dr. Ian Arra made $631,510 in 2020 plus $1,690 in benefits as the region’s medical officer of health, according to the province’s Sunshine List. Arra's salary was reported at $385,349 in 2019. 

The next highest salary from the health unit went to Linna Li, a physician consultant who made $202,585 in 2020 plus $1,133 in benefits.
