NEWS RELEASE
MY FRIEND'S HOUSE
***************************
This November, My Friend’s House is again mobilizing the Georgian Triangle community as Ontario comes together in recognition of Woman Abuse Prevention Month. As part of the 8th-annual Wrapped in Courage campaign, My Friend’s House is asking the community it serves to participate in the campaign by purchasing Courage Masks to show support to the many brave women who face and have fled violence.

This year, Wrapped in Courage has adapted to our new reality and the community is being asked to support the campaign and the work of My Friend’s House by:
    1.    Joining Champions of Courage Monthly Giving program
    2.    Purchasing a Courage mask
    3.    Sending My Friend’s House a 30-second video through Facebook featuring your Courage Mask and letting us know what #Courage means to you this November
    4.    Helping spread the word and by taking a Courage selfie with your mask and post to Facebook showing your support

Women and children across the Georgian Triangle and across Ontario need your support. We know the courage of a woman alone is not enough and it takes the strength of an entire community to end violence against women. Since 1991, My Friend’s House has been making a difference in the lives of abused women and their children.  We know that in Ontario:
    •    Last year, every 11 days a woman or child was killed by a man known to them
    •    One in four women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime
    •    Last year, for 89 per cent of women and children killed, men closely known to them have been identified as the perpetrator
    •    Visit My Friend’s House website to purchase a Courage mask or become a Champion of Courage
