HURONIA ALARM AND FIRE SECURITY

Huronia Alarm and Fire Security Inc. has been a long-time supporter of Home Horizon – Barbara Weider House. Huronia recognizes the importance of having a safe and secure living space, especially for at-risk youth experiencing homelessness. Home Horizon recently completed an 1,100-sq-ft expansion of the Barbara Weider House, which added much-needed bedrooms, as well as the construction of a dedicated community space used for outreach programs and services. Hurona Alarms and Fire supplied and installed an enhanced security alarm system, interior and exterior surveillance cameras, a secured locking system with keyless entry protocols and a fire alarm system.

“In response to the increased demand for our services, Home Horizon recently announced the completion of a renovation this past year, expanding the Barbara Weider House from six bedrooms to 10 rooms, an over 65 per cent increase in the number of youths we can serve in the house. This is a major accomplishment and will allow us to impact more youth for decades to come,” said Deb Piggott, fund development manager for Home Horizon.

“Huronia has been an important partner to Home Horizon since 2017. They’ve been right alongside us as we continue to grow our physical footprint and outreach impact in the community. Seventy-nine-per-cent of our total budget comes from fundraising … everything from events to sponsorships to foundation donations and grants to private donors. These partnerships really matter. They really help. They allow us to provide youth with stability, safety, physical security, and a chance to transform their lives for the better,” said Joan Schatz, board member and chair of fundraising for Home Horizon.

Piggot went on to say, “we are super grateful for the incredible support of Huronia Alarm and Fire Security Inc. for their investment in the expansion!  We are so fortunate to have businesses in our community who care and who support Home Horizon, as it really does take a village.”

“I’d like to piggyback on Deb’s comment about projects like this taking a village,” said David P. Clark, president of Huronia Alarm and Fire Security “We are thankful to be in a position where we have the resources to be part of that village. We aren’t alone in providing our deliverables either – the ripple effect of supporting community projects like this one is immense.  I’d like to give a special thanks to Chris Johnson and Jon Casselman who helped bring us all together.”
