Health unit reporting three more COVID-19 deaths in Simcoe County and Muskoka

Four more cases confirmed in Collingwood residents and one in a Wasaga Beach resident

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting three more COVID-19 related deaths in the region, and 27 more confirmed cases of the virus. 

The three new deaths reported by the health unit include a man in his 70s from Oro-Medonte, a man in his 90s in Bradford West Gwillimbury, and a man in his 80s from Muskoka Lakes. 

The health unit is reporting the Bradford man contracted the virus in a long-term care facility, the Oro-Medonta man's case is still under investigation (he was reported positive by the health unit on March 30) ,and the Muskoka Lakes man's case is related to travel. 

Among the 27 new cases are four more confirmed in Collingwood residents, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Collingwood residents to seven. 

The new cases include a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 70s, a man in his 70s, and a woman in her 70s. 

The woman in her 50s is self-isolating, and the health unit has reported her case is community-acquired. 

One of the women in their 70s is reported as recovered and she has a travel history. The other woman in her 70s is self-isolating, and also has a travel history. The man in his 70s is self-isolating and is a close contact of a known case. 

There is also another confirmed case in a Wasaga Beach resident. A male in his 60s with a travel history is confirmed positive. He is the third Wasaga Beach resident to be confirmed with the virus, including one man who has died. 

There are eight more cases confirmed in Barrie. 

The newly reported cases include four community-acquired cases including a woman in her 60s (self-isolating), a man in his 60s (self-isolating) a man in his 50s (self-isolating), and a teenage boy.

There were also three cases with close contact to known cases: a woman in her 20s, a teen girl, and a woman in her 20s all of whom had close contact with a known case and all are self-isolating.

One Barrie case, a man in his 20s is still under investigation. He is self-isolating.

There are seven more cases confirmed in Bradford West-Gwillimbury. 

Six of the new Bradford cases are residents at a long-term care facility. It's not yet clear if the facility is Bradford Valley. The cases include three women in their 90s, two women in their 70s, and a man in his 60s. 

The other Bradford case is a teen boy who had close contact to a known case. He is self-isolating.

There are no more cases reported in Orillia or Midland.

The case breakdown for towns and cities in the region is as follows: Collingwood (7), Barrie (28), Orillia (10), Springwater (4), Clearview (2), New Tecumseth (17), Adjala-Tosorontio (2), Bradford West Gwillimbury (36), Essa (2), Innisfil (5), Wasaga Beach (4) Midland (4), Penetanguishene (1), Oro-Medonte (3), Tiny (2), Ramara (2), Gravenhurst (5), Muskoka Lakes (2), Lake of Bays (1) and Huntsville (4).
