After 15 years of being ignored by the previous Liberal government, both hospitals in Simcoe-Grey have been given the go-ahead to fully plan for their redevelopments.

“I just want to thank Premier Doug Ford, Finance Minister Vic Fedeli and Health Minister Christine Elliott for their very real support of our hospitals,” said MPP Jim Wilson.

“Moreover, I would like to thank every single person that signed a petition, sent a letter or contributed in a way that helped to make this day a reality. I particularly would like to thank the Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Collingwood General and Marine Hospital administration, staff and volunteers for their hard work and perseverance,” said Wilson.

“We can now get on with the job of building new facilities. Today’s announcement means that our hospitals will each have access to the millions of new dollars that will be needed to plan these redevelopments. This is a huge and necessary first step towards modernizing our hospitals. I look forward to continuing to work with each of our hospitals to get the planning done and shovels in the ground.” Added Wilson. “Local fundraising can now formally begin as we demonstrate to the government that the people of Simcoe-Grey stand firmly behind their hospitals.”

“This is exactly the announcement I was hoping for today and I couldn’t be happier or more thankful.” Wilson ended.
