The Simcoe County District School Board confirmed this morning there is one class closed at Admiral Collingwood Elementary School due to a single COVID-19 case. The school board has not released whether the case is a student or staff member.

This is the third Simcoe County District School Board facility with a case, and there are five confirmed school-related cases in the Simcoe Muskoka District Catholic School Board.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit did report two new cases in Collingwood this month, but has since removed them from the case list and transferred them to other health units.

For at least one of those cases, the health unit confirmed it was a Collingwood resident who went elsewhere to self-isolate for 14 days.

The health unit reported 29 new cases in the Simcoe-Muskoka region today, including 27 in Simcoe County, one of which was a youth under 18 from Clearview Township.

Grey Bruce Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Errinrung long-term care facility in Thornbury this weekend and has reported three more Meaford cases since Friday.

Prior to today, there were 17 cases confirmed in Collingwood, not including the two that were reported and then moved. The 17 currently on the list are all reported as recovered. The health unit did not report a new Collingwood case today.

There have been 11 cases reported in Meaford residents and eight in The Blue Mountains residents.

The health unit has reported 23 COVID cases in Wasaga Beach, one case has ended in death and four cases are not yet reported recovered.

Today, Public Health Ontario reported 700 new cases of COVID-19, which is the highest number ever reported by the health unit. According to the province's daily update, labs have processed 41,000 tests in 24 hours, but there's still a backlog of nearly 50,000 tests awaiting results.

The province has "shifted" its testing strategy to prioritize testing for only those experiencing symptoms, those who have been notified through the COVID app or by the health unit of exposure to a confirmed COVID case, or those who are part of targeted testing by the province's health ministries.
