Collingwood swimmer takes silver at Ontario school championships

Multiple athletes from Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School swam solid races at the OFSAA championships last week

A Collingwood high school student is among the fastest swimmers of her Ontario peers, and she's got the medal to prove it.

Resse Wessinger finished with a silver on the podium at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) swimming championships in Windsor on Feb. 28.

Wessinger and her brothers are on the swim team at Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School (OLB), and they travelled to Windsor with other members of their school swim team to compete in the championship races.

Wessinger finished second in the 100-metre individual medley and finished 9th in the 50-metre freestyle race. Reese's brother Riley finished fourth in the 100-metre individual relay and sixth in the 50-metre freestyle race.

Also from OLB, Marshall Kerr finished 9th in the 100-metre individual medley, shaving seven seconds off his personal best time. He also swam a 50-metre freestyle race in under 30 seconds.

Spencer Adlington made it to the finals and finished 20th in the 100-metre breaststroke. The boys team placed 20th in the 100-metre relay.

OLB athletes Anderson Hulshof, Andrew Denbok, Hugo Duras, Isaac Morris, Eden Harbec, Sophia Ego, Amelia Ellis, Sunny Valdez and Mia Braden also competed at OFSAA, with some achieving personal best times.
