The Collingwood Skating Club is excited to announce our skaters are bringing Broadway to the ice as we welcome the community back for our annual carnival performance.

We’ve selected some of our favourite show tunes to bring you our show entitled Blades on Broadway this April 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“Carnival has always been the highlight of our skating season and something that we have definitely missed doing for the past two years,” said Collingwood Skating Club vice-president Julia Sheffield. “The skaters are excited to perform again and this year's theme is so much fun with great music and costumes.”

Skaters aged three to 17 years old will be performing solos, duets, and group numbers during the show, and will be joined by one of Canada’s Olympic competitors and an up-and-coming ice dance team.

The show will feature guest skater Roman Sadovsky, a Canadian figure skater and YouTuber who represented Canada at the 2022 winter Olympics, won gold at the 2020 Canadian national championships, and silver at the 2022 national championships.

Also joining the performance will be this year’s national silver medallists for novice ice dance, Dana Sabatini-Speciale and Nicholas Buelow, who train in Barrie at the Mariposa School of Skating.

“We hope that the people of Collingwood and area join us to celebrate our return to performing and to support skating in our community,” said Sheffield. “It's going to be a really great show!”

Admission for the show is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors/children, and proceeds from the event will be used to support the club’s youth skating opportunities.

The show starts at 1 p.m. at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena in Collingwood.

Tickets can be purchased with cash at the door.
