The Collingwood Climate Action Team is encouraging residents to embrace Meatless Mondays.

"We are calling on the citizens of Collingwood and the surrounding region to take up the challenge to take a step toward change," states a news release by the volunteer, grassroots organization. "Start small – by eating just one meatless meal a week. Meatless Mondays asks citizens to make it just part of how we eat around here."

The campaign is not intended to create vegetarians or vegans from meat eaters, but to encourage a flexitarian diet with more plant-based choices.

"Soon you will be able to dine once again at your favourite restaurant, many of whom support the Meatless Monday campaign and will have a special on their menu," states the news release.

The group will be posting menus and other Meatless Monday resources on its website at www.collingwoodclimateaction.com.

They will also be hosting a virtual Vegetarian Cook Night on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. Advance registration is required and you'll get the recipes and instructions in before the session. Register online here.
