The Collingwood Museum would like to celebrate museum month with the community though a lineup of activities that showcase all that a museum offers to the community.

First up is a travelling exhibition from Science North called Our Climate Quest: Small Steps to Big Change set up at the Central Park Arena where admission is free. The exhibit includes activities for all ages. There's a kick-off on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. for the exhibit, which will be on display until May 29.

At the kick-off, families can chat with Collingwood's climate action specialist, Nicole Yardy, complete a scavenger hunt, and join the quest to become a climate hero. There's also a draw to win a free week at the museum's summer programs.

This month is a great time to check out the Collingwood Museum podcast: Stories from Another Day. There are 45 episodes covering local triumphs, tragedies, and everything in between. The next episode will be up May 6 at 9 a.m. Available wherever you access podcasts.

The newest temporary exhibit in the museum's Community Collectors case is a display of Blue Mountain Pottery. The exhibit is a partnership between the museum and Blue Mountain Pottery Collectors Club.

Also on display, temporarily, at the museum is a new "Staff Picks" exhibit, featuring never-before-exhibited items picked by staff to showcase the unique challenges that come with caring for a collection. A news release from the museum says the items "initiate big discussions, touching on everything from the problematic legacy of colonial collecting to conservation and missing outgoing loans."

International Museum Day is May 18. The Collingwood Museum is offering free admission between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You can make a button, join a scavenger hunt and more.

The Collingwood Museum is located at 45 St. Paul Street (or on the Trail Trail if you're walking or biking). It's open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
