BREAKING: Premier doesn't think students will go back to school on April 6

Ford made the statement during a press conference this afternoon

Premier Doug Ford says that while the province is taking the situation day-by-day, he doesn't believe children will be going back to school on April 6.

"Our No. 1 priority is to protect children, that's our No. 1 priority," said Ford.

"We're taking this, again, day-by-day," Ford told reporters during a press conference today. "Do I believe and does the minister (of education) believe April 6 kids are going back to school? The kids won't be going back to school on April 6. We will be making sure that we give a proper timeframe, but again, this is changing hour-by-hour, day-by-day."

The premier's statement came during a press conference during which he announced a mandatory 14-day workplace closure for all non-essential workplaces beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday.

Kids are already scheduled to be off an extra two weeks past the March Break as the province grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic.
