Santa Claus is booked, and the parade is being planned as hope floats for the Collingwood Downtown BIA this season.

The BIA announced it is moving forward with plans for the annual Santa Claus Parade, which was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

"We remain hopeful that the return to this annual tradition will be possible," states the BIA news release.

According to a news release from the BIA, Santa has marked Nov. 20 in his schedule for a ride atop his sleigh on Hurontario Street.

The parade will mark the start of the Christmas season in the downtown and will be a precursor to more events like merchant open houses, visits with reindeer, entertainment, and the traditional Christmas tree lighting.

"We want to make this year’s edition of the Santa Claus Parade bigger and better than ever," states the BIA news release. "We encourage every business to consider becoming involved. It’s a great way to promote your business as you assist in staging this important community tradition."

Those hoping to participate by entering a float in the parade should let the BIA know by registering at collingwooddowntown.com or by calling 705-445-5595 for more information. The entry fee is $50, but it's waived for community groups and non-profit organizations.
