18 new COVID-19 cases at schools in Simcoe County today

There are 18 new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County today.

There are 55 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Nov. 15.

As of Monday, the Simcoe County District School Board has changed how it is reporting cases on its advisory board.

There are two schools that no longer have cases listed on the board. Instead, the school board notes that the health unit has taken over reporting cases at Terry Fox Elementary School and W.C. Little Elementary School, both in Barrie. As of Monday, the health unit is now reporting six active cases at Terry Fox (two more than the school board listed on Friday) and five active cases at W.C. Little (three more than were listed on Friday).

The health unit does not report on affected classrooms. As of Friday, three classrooms had been affected at Terry Fox, and two at W.C. Little.

The school board is reporting one new case at Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie as of Monday. The health unit declared an outbreak at the school on Nov. 12.

There is a case at Guthrie Public School in Oro-Medonte Township today.

Honourable Earl Rowe Public School in Bradford is reporting one new case today.

Innisfil Central Public School is reporting one case, and one affected classroom.

Maple Grove Public School in Barrie has two cases today, and one affected classroom.

Nottawa Elementary School in Clearview Township is reporting two cases and one affected classroom today. The health unit declared the school in outbreak as of Nov. 12.

Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie is reporting one case and one affected classroom today.

Bear Creek Secondary School in Barrie is reporting one new case today, as is Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil. No classrooms are affected in regards to those cases.

A new case is being reported today and a classroom closure at St. John Paul II Catholic School in Barrie. This adds to one case and classroom closure previously reported at the school.

St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland is reporting one new case today, with two affected classrooms.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 22 confirmed active cases at 11 schools. They are:

  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie has one case. The health unit declared an outbreak at the school on Nov. 12
  • Guthrie Public Schools in Oro-Medonte has one case
  • Honourable Earl Rowe Public School in Bradford, one case
  • Innisfil Central Public School, one case, and one affected classroom
  • Maple Grove Public School in Barrie has two cases, and one affected classroom
  • Nottawa Elementary School in Collingwood, two cases and one affected classroom. The health unit declared the school in outbreak as of Nov. 12.
  • Terry Fox Elementary School, six cases, with an unknown number of classrooms affected. Outbreak declared Nov. 10.
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie, one case and one affected classroom
  • W.C. Little Elementary School, five cases, and an unknown number of classrooms affected
  • Bear Creek Secondary School in Barrie is reporting one case
  • Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil, one case

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 25 active cases spread across 10 schools:

  • Holy Cross Catholic School, Innisfil, five cases, two affected classrooms. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 15.
  • Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case and one classroom affected
  • St. Bernadette Catholic School, Barrie, two cases. Outbreak declared on Nov. 9
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, five cases and one classroom affected. This school has been in outbreak since Nov. 1.
  • St. John Paul II Catholic School in Barrie is reporting two cases, and two affected classrooms
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has two cases, and two classrooms affected
  • St. Mary's Catholic School, Collingwood, one case, one classroom affected
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie has four cases, with nine classrooms affected
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School, Barrie, two cases, six classrooms affected. Outbreak declared on Nov. 8
  • St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland, one case, with two affected classrooms

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported five students and one staff member who attend ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia have tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 10. Two classrooms have been affected, and the health unit has declared an active outbreak at the school as of Nov. 3.

A private school in Simcoe County, which has not been identified by the health unit, is also reporting an outbreak as of Nov. 8. There are two cases associated with that outbreak.
