LETTER: Why not put the arts centre at Blue Mountain?

Letter writer suggests an arts centre at the base of the ski hill would get more tourist traffic

CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via our website. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to a previous letter suggesting there isn't enough parking or room for an arts centre and theatre in downtown Collingwood.

The letter writer has a point.

While I disagree about the library (it is well located and has good parking), the arts centre would be a serious overload, and the last thing this world needs is more parking lot paving.

How much better it would be to locate it at the foot of the mountain where there is existing parking, paying a ground rent (for a, say, 999-year lease), thereby re-capitalizing Blue and providing seriously good tourist traffic to the arts centre so that it wouldn't have to try to survive on "locals" alone.

Just a thought.
