Editor,

Why do we need these huge garbage bins for a family of two elderly folks? And why did the council make this decision without the people’s ideas?

My family in Mississauga had a choice of size which made a lot of sense.

These are ridiculous and I have tried everything to get them in my garage and “can not” get them in.

I also have no area at the sides of my home to put these and cannot put them in the back as the snow piles between the houses and with limited space between the homes – forget it.

That raises another issue, that’s our fire route and the bins will block it off. How safe is that?

I  only own half of the path, the other half is the neighbour's and it’s landscaped by both at the sides of the homes.

This is not a garbage area, we like neat and tidy. This project is really going to bring down our neat and tidy town and subdivisions.

They can’t be left in the driveway in the winter as the tractors will be here to clean out the snow before the garbage is picked up and then there is the snowplow that comes around the corner and down the street while the bins will be on the street. What then?

Can I return these bins and get much smaller bins, please?
