LETTER: Ford shouldn't condemn carbon tax without suggesting alternative

'The demand for fossil fuels has to be reduced ... you reduce demand by raising the cost,' says letter writer.

With regards to Doug Ford and his lobbying for Ontario farmers, I have nothing against our farming community and their need to keep costs in line.

I do have a problem with the Ford government criticizing our federal government's carbon tax without other ideas to reduce carbon emissions.

It's typical widespread ignorance about climate change. Mr. Ford and his cronies then proceed to advance the use of natural gas! Are they all totally oblivious to what our nation is trying to accomplish to slow climate change?

The carbon tax is designed to cut down the use of fossil fuels. Let me make it simple for our politicians and such.

How do we reduce the use of fossil fuels?

It won't work to ask Big Oil to produce less.

The demand for fossil fuels has to be reduced. That is the only way to have Big Oil slow production: lower demand equals lower production.

You reduce demand by raising the cost of fossil fuels to the public who use it so they use it less.

Is this simple enough for you Mr. Ford? Are you going to even be around when our farmers look over scorched fields of crops and come to realize: "Maybe Trudeau and science was correct back in 2024."

Is anyone aware that the average resident of Ontario gets a carbon rebate refund that gives back all or even more than it costs them? Wake up people.
