CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via our website. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following was submitted in response to a letter from the Collingwood branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario opposing six-storey building heights for downtown.

I vehemently oppose the plan to allow more than three-storey buildings in our downtown heritage areas.

We should treasure these areas and give kudos to the people who are trying to keep it as beautiful as it is for future generations.

I’m already horrified by some of the buildings that have been allowed to date: the corner of Hume and Hurontario Streets and the massive building at the entrance to the terminals come to mind.

Please leave our heritage district alone!
