CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected]. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about the lifeguard shortage in Collingwood, published May 10.

I just read about the lifeguard shortage. I believe that the important phrase was "dishwashing pays better with less responsibility."

Solution? Better pay for lifeguards. How much would it add to the town budget?

If the council is worried about having to restrict their programs maybe it would help them if they realized that minimum wage isn’t a living wage.
