The County of Simcoe has reported no new cases of COVID-19 at Sunset Manor long-term care home today.
The Collingwood facility was declared in outbreak on Nov. 8 after one staff member received a positive test result from a round of routine testing done on all staff Nov. 5. Since then, one resident case was also confirmed by testing.
The county said 172 staff were swabbed during bi-weekly testing on Nov. 5, and they are waiting on just one more test result. There have been 170 negative results.
Some, but not all, residents were tested on Nov. 9. One resident tested positive for COVID-19, but is reported by the county as asymptomatic. The remaining resident tests have come back with negative results. Only residents who provided consent were swabbed for the COVID test.
"For precautionary reasons, the health unit has directed all staff and residents to undergo testing on Nov. 19," states a notice posted on the county's website. "All residents remain in quarantine (with a few in isolation); however, with support from the health unit we are continuing meal services in our dining area for some units, while taking extra safety precautions."
Mass testing is scheduled for Nov. 19.
