An Orillia woman in her 70s died yesterday at Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital, after being admitted for COVID-19.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit confirmed her death this afternoon.
The woman's case was reported by the health unit on March 24.
The health unit confirmed this was a case of community transmission as the woman had no travel history or contact with known COVID-19 cases.
"I would like to express my condolences to her family for the loss of their family member," said Dr. Charles Gardner, the medical officer of health.
