The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to announce that the nomination period for the Volunteer Recognition Awards is now open. The nomination period will be open from March 7, 2023, to March 21, 2023. The Volunteer Awards Ceremony was created to celebrate and honour outstanding residents and organizations that have helped shape and build the The Blue Mountains community. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 22, as part of National Volunteer Recognition Week.
“On behalf of Town Council, I’m excited we have the opportunity to celebrate the volunteers who have made outstanding contributions in The Blue Mountains,” said Mayor Andrea Matrosovs “Recognition isn’t the reason why these dedicated people volunteer, but they deserve it. We hope these awards show how much we appreciate what they do for our community.”
The annual Volunteer Recognition program will feature seven award categories that aim to recognize individual volunteers and community groups for their contribution to the local community:
- Arts & Culture Award
- Blue Mountains Community Builder Award (adult 26 and over, youth 25 and younger)
- Good Neighbour Award
- Heritage Award
- Outstanding Community Group Award
- Sports and Recreation Award
- Sustainability Award
To nominate an individual or group for their dedication to the community, please complete the online nomination form by visiting the Volunteer Recognition Awards webpage.
As part of the Awards Ceremony, the Town will host a volunteer fair. Local community groups are invited to attend to meet with the public and discuss volunteer opportunities.
