Upcoming Staff Report Regarding the Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that staff report FAF.23.171 regarding the Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation (BMAHC) is scheduled to be presented and considered by Council on Monday, October 30, 2023.

The staff report provides two options regarding how best to proceed with the current operating loan that the Town holds with The Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation that expires November 30, 2023. Within this press release, the Town would like to highlight that the recommendation of the staff report is for Council to formally release The Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation of the responsibility to repay the first and second amending operating loan, as Council has decided not to transfer the 171 King Street property to the Corporation.

In addition, the staff report recommends that Council approves the continuation of the Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation with a refocus on renewing and re-establishing the Down Payment Assistance Program and the Secondary Suite Incentive Program with potential funding coming from the new Community Improvement Plan.

A detailed overview of the staff report will be presented by Chief Administrative Officer, Shawn Everitt during the Council meeting. The Council meeting will be live-streamed on the Town website and a recording of the meeting will be made available following the meeting.
