bm logo2Press Release - October 4, 2022

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise members of the public of upcoming seasonal facility closures and maintenance changes in anticipation of the Fall and Winter months.

Facility and Park Amenities Closures

The Tomahawk Golf Course will be open through the Thanksgiving long weekend and will remain open on a week-by-week basis depending on weather conditions. During this time, Town Staff will be removing all nets and windscreens at the tennis and pickleball courts and will also begin the process of closing washrooms located throughout parks and outdoor recreation areas. This work is expected to be completed by October 31.

The Town would like to remind residents that the Thornbury Pier will be closed as of November 1 for the season to restrict access and to ensure public safety during Winter weather conditions.

The ice is in at the Beaver Valley Community Centre. Public Skating, Adult Skating and Parent and Tot Skating schedules can be found on the Community Events Calendar.

Upcoming Winter Trails and Recreation Information

As the Town prepares for the closure of Spring and Summer facilities and amenities, the Town would also like to highlight upcoming outdoor winter recreational opportunities. Following the success of the groomed trails in past winters, the Town will continue the maintenance and regular grooming of both the Georgian Trail as well as trails at the Tomahawk Recreation Complex. All other parks and trails will remain open to the public but will not be regularly maintained or groomed.

Upcoming Parking Restrictions

Members of the public are also reminded that Winter Parking Restrictions come into effect on November 1, 2022. The restrictions prohibit on street parking between 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to help ensure that winter roads maintenance can proceed in a safe and timely manner.

When visiting a park, trail, or outdoor natural space, please plan ahead and ensure parking is included in your itinerary.
