WHEREAS established in 1926, the Royal Canadian Legion is the largest service organization for veterans in Canada; and
WHEREAS the Legion's mission is to serve all veterans, including serving Canadian Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Members, and their families, to promote remembrance and to serve communities and our country; and
WHEREAS National Legion Week is observed from Sunday, September 17, to Saturday, September 23 in 2023; and
WHEREAS National Legion Week is designed to educate the public on the good work their local Legion branch does in the community; and
WHEREAS the Town of The Blue Mountains would like to recognize the contributions of the Royal Canadian Legion Beaver Valley Branch 281 to our community and country;
THEREFORE I, Andrea Matrosovs, Mayor of the Town of the Blue Mountains, hereby proclaim September 17 to 23 as Legion Week in the Town of The Blue Mountains and ask all those in the Town to join the Legion Members in observance and take part in events planned for this week.
