Two new COVID-19 cases reported in the Blue Mountains today

There are currently 123 active COVID-19 cases across the Grey Bruce Health Unit, including 19 active cases in the Blue Mountains

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today. 

The 15 new cases are located in Saugeen Shores (4), Owen Sound (3), South Bruce (2), Georgian Bluffs (2), Blue Mountains (2), Southgate (1), and the Northern Bruce Peninsula (1). 

The health unit has reported a total of 1,153 cases in the region to date. There are 123 active cases in both counties combined, and GBHU is currently tracking 585 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (31), Southgate (6), The Blue Mountains (19), Grey Highlands (10), Hanover (1), West Grey (4), Meaford (10), Chatsworth (2), and Georgian Bluffs (6).

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 227 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 60 of which are active. 

There have been five deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined and there are currently five Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized due to the virus, including two individuals that are being hospitalized outside of the region. 

In addition, there have been five cases transferred from other health unit’s to local Intensive Care Units; all five cases remain with the transferring health unit and are not reflected in local case counts.

Of GBHU’s 1,153 cumulative cases, 1,025 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (181), Southgate (116), Blue Mountains (114), Grey Highlands (83), Hanover (65), West Grey (59), Meaford (36), Chatsworth (20) and Georgian Bluffs (12). 

To-date the health unit has administered 53,300 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 5,850 doses, which will be focused on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
