Two new case of COVID-19 reported in the Blue Mountains today

There are 78 active cases in both counties combined, and the health unit is currently tracking 278 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 in the region in the past 24 hours. 

The eight new cases are located in Owen Sound (3), Blue Mountains (2), Saugeen Shores (1), Hanover (1), Arran Elderslie (1).

The health unit has reported a total of 908 cases in the region to date. In today's report the health unit has also noted two additional cases have been referred from other health units in Ontario to the Blue Mountains and Owen Sound.

There are 78 active cases in both counties combined, and the health unit is currently tracking 278 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (14), Southgate (3), Grey Highlands (2), the Town of The Blue Mountains (23), Hanover (6), West Grey (1), Chatsworth (2) and Georgian Bluffs (1).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 71 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 19 of which are active. 

There have been four deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there is currently one Grey-Bruce resident being hospitalized in a facility outside of Grey-Bruce.   

Of GBHU’s 908 cumulative cases, 826 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (139); Southgate (106); Grey Highlands (75); West Grey (49); Blue Mountains (68); Hanover (49); Meaford (26); Georgian Bluffs (10); Chatsworth (17). 

To-date the health unit has administered 36,626 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 5,980 doses, which will be focusing on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
