The Town of The Blue Mountains is accepting applications for its Community Improvement Plan.

The 2024 intake period for applications to the town’s CIP is open until Friday, April 19, 2024. Up to $250,000 in total funding is available for the CIP.

The Community Improvement Plan aims to serve as a long-term strategy to revitalize the community, improve residents' quality of life, better utilize under-developed properties, and promote private investment in land and buildings through grants or loans to private property owners and tenants.

The town has two Community Improvement Plans:

The town directs the business community to the Town-Wide Revitalization CIP, which includes several programs specific to commercial and mixed-use buildings. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Façade Improvements – ex. replacement of signage, entryway doors, façade windows
  • Building Improvements – ex. replacement of other windows and doors, structural repairs, weatherproofing, upgrading plumbing, electrical and heating
  • Municipal Fees – ex. building or planning permit fees associated with the project
  • Property Enhancement – ex. landscaping, fencing, outdoor seating (i.e. sidewalk café), improvement of parking areas
  • Energy Efficiency – ex. renovations that result in third-party certification (i.e. installation of Energy Star-certified windows), solar panels
  • Destination Infrastructure – ex. outdoor art installation, streetscape beautification

Successful applicants will have up to 50 per cent of project costs covered through funding, up to a maximum amount dependent on the program.

Interested applicants are encouraged to arrange a pre-application consultation with town staff to discuss and confirm application requirements. After consultation, applicants must submit a completed application form, including supporting documentation, for evaluation.

For more information or to arrange a pre-application consultation, please visit the CIP webpage.
