The Town of The Blue Mountains has advised local residents and motorists of new parking restrictions in place on Pretty River Road.

The town will begin enforcing the roadside parking restriction on Pretty River Road between The Blue Mountains/Clearview Townline and the Osprey/The Blue Mountains Townline on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The town added the restrictions to the parking bylaw earlier this year to promote public safety and address concerns about the increase in parking on the side of the road in this area.

The town notes that the sight lines and geometry of Pretty River Road do not allow adequate space for safe roadside parking and winter conditions narrow the road even further.

Roadside parking has the potential to cause a hazard for vehicles, pedestrians and maintenance works including snow removal. Parking on both sides – or even one side – of the road in this location has also proven to limit the safe and efficient movement of emergency vehicles.

“No parking” signs have been put up along Pretty River Road. Also, signs have been installed directing visitors to the Ontario Park’s public parking lot at 635397 Pretty River Road.

The Blue Mountains bylaw enforcement officers will be monitoring and enforcing the new restrictions. Any vehicles found in violation may be ticketed or towed.

Those needing more information can contact the town directly here.
