TBM council salaries and expenses total $340,000 in 2023

Salary and expenses for The Blue Mountains council were just over $340,000 in 2023.

The town recently released council’s 2023 statement of remuneration and expenses that details the salaries and expenses paid to elected officials during the year.

The total cost of council in 2023 was $343,487.08. This included $287,486.97 in salaries, $25,199.72 for travel and computers (each member of council received $3,599.96 in allowances for travel and computers) and $30,800.39 in total expenses, which included professional development, cell phones, accommodation and meals.

Mayor Andrea Matrosovs received the most remuneration in 2023. The mayor received $54,937.76 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers and $9,488.25 in expenses. The total remuneration for Matrosovs was $68,025.97.

Coun. June Porter received the second-highest amount in 2023. Porter received $40,507.17 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $5,450.28 in expenses for a total remuneration of $49,557.41. Coun. Porter also received $738.27 in per diem and $493 for mileage for her role as a director of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority.

Coun. Gail Aridel received $39,361.75 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $4,979.82 in expenses for total remuneration of $47,941.53.

Coun. Paula Hope received $37,814.40 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $4,581.73 in expenses for a total remuneration of $45,996.09.

Coun. Shawn McKinlay received $36,909.04 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $4,069.36 in expenses for a total remuneration of $44,578.36.

Coun. Alex Maxwell received $38,887.09 in remuneration, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $1,698.25 in expenses for a total remuneration of $44,185.30.

Deputy Mayor Peter Bordignon received the least compared to the rest of council. Bordignon received $39,069.76 in salary, $3,599.96 for travel and computers, $532.70 in expenses for a total remuneration of $43,202.42.

The report also included amounts paid to the town’s committee of adjustment. Members of the committee received a total of $6,604.14 in remuneration, mileage and expenses.

Gregory Aspin received $994.01 in salary, $533 in mileage, $343.08 in expenses for a total of $1,871.07.

Robert Waind received $953.23 in salary, $414.56 in mileage, $0 in expenses for a total of $1,367.79.

James Oliver received $1,029.70 in salary, $323.94 in mileage, $0 in expenses for a total of $1,353.64.

Michael Martin received $953.23 in salary, $167.49 in mileage, $150 in expenses for a total of $1,270.72.

Duncan McKinlay received $611.70 in salary, $129,22 in mileage, $0 in expenses for a total of $740.92. McKinlay was appointed to the position part-way through the year.
