The Blue Mountains council has voted in favour of a request from Coun. Paula Hope that all videos of the Blue Mountains Attainable House Corporation’s (BMAHC) board of directors meetings be posted online.

Hope brought her follow up motion on the matter, after withdrawing a previous motion on the topic a few weeks ago, to council’s meeting on Aug. 29. Her new motion requested the videos be posted and made available to the public through links on the BMAHC website.

“This is a discussion that should be at the council level. There is a basic principle at stake here,” Hope said, noting that BMAHC receives municipal funding for its operations and how it conducts its business should be public.

Hope’s motion clarified that she was not asking for in-camera or closed BMAHC meetings to be posted online.

Hope also thanked BMAHC Executive Director Jennifer Bisley for recently reaching out to her on this topic for further discussions on the matter.

“It was very helpful,” he said.

Council voted 6-0 in favour of the resolution, with Coun. Jim Uram absent.

The BMAHC board of directors will consider the request at its next meeting on Sept. 1.
