One new case of COVID-19 reported in Grey Highlands today

There are currently 17 confirmed COVID-19 cases in hospital in Grey Bruce, as well as three Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized outside of the region

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 21 new cases of COVID-19 today. 

The 21 new cases are located in: Owen Sound (9), Brockton (3), Meaford (2), Saugeen First Nation (2), Arran-Elderslie (1), Grey Highlands (1), Saugeen Shores (1), South Bruce Peninsula (1), and Southgate (1).

Currently, there are 182 active cases in both counties combined and the health unit is tracking 331 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

The region has also had a total of 593 variant cases, nine of which are active. 

Active COVID-19 cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (57), Southgate (3), Blue Mountain (1), Grey Highlands (5), Hanover (4), Meaford (10), Georgian Bluffs (4) and Chatsworth (3).  

Of GBHU’s 1,920 cumulative cases, 1,723 cases are resolved. In addition, 13 Grey-Bruce residents have died from COVID-19, as well as three suspect deaths that are currently pending.  

There are also 17 confirmed COVID cases in hospital in Grey Bruce, as well as three Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized outside of the region.   

To date the health unit has administered 199,264 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, 17,326 of which were administered in the past seven days.  

According to GBHU, 74.1 per cent of the eligible population in Grey Bruce has received the first dose of the vaccine and 53 per cent have received both doses. 

GBHU received a shipment of 29,684 vaccine doses on July 12, which will be focused on vaccine distribution to first and second dose vaccine clients via scheduled Hockey Hubs and walk-in clinics; First Nation/Metis communities; immuno-compromised/pregnancy focused clinics; eligible priority groups; mobile clinics; and homebound.

All Ontarians aged 18 years or older are now eligible to rebook their second-dose appointments for an earlier time. Appointments can be made through the provincial on-line booking system for COVID-19 vaccinations at ontario.ca/bookvaccine

In addition, GBHU has an app to assist Grey-Bruce residents in booking their COVID-19 vaccine appointments. The app is available free to download from Google Play and Apple Stores for all mobile devices and tablets.
