Residents and taxpayers in Grey Highlands will have their opportunity to comment on the proposed 2024 budget this week.

Grey Highlands will hold a public budget town hall meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. at the municipal office in Markdale.

The town hall budget meeting is a hybrid meeting that allows local residents to attend in person or virtually. Local residents can register to attend virtually here. Comments about the budget can be submitted to council here.

Last week, Grey Highlands council settled on a draft budget for 2024 that includes a local tax increase of 8.85 per cent. This equals a $61 increase for every $100,000 of residential assessment. An average home in Grey Highlands assessed at $305,908 would pay $185 more in 2024 should the budget be approved.

Over the past several weeks, Grey Highlands council held multiple committee of the whole budget sessions to work on the draft budget and determine priorities for the municipality in 2024.
