The Municipality of Grey Highlands has announced that Flesherton Pond is currently not safe for swimming.

In a news release sent out on June 29, the municipality said high levels of bacteria in Flesherton Pond may pose a risk to health. Pond users have been warned to swim at their own risk.

Water sample results received that day showed elevated levels of bacteria.

In Grey Highlands, municipal public swimming areas are tested weekly.  Sites that demonstrate high levels of bacteria are posted as soon as results are received (Thursday of each week).

This warning will affect Flesherton Pond until sample results show acceptable levels of bacteria as per provincial standards.
