Classic car and tractor show coming up in Rocklyn

The Rocklyn Classic Car and Tractor Show will feature many events for all ages

The 24th annual Rocklyn Classic Car and Tractor Show will be held this Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18.

The popular Father’s Day event will feature plenty of fun activities for all ages.

The show is being held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Rocklyn Community Centre. Admission is just $5 per person or $10 per family.

“This is the 24th year of the show,” said Henry Reinders, one of the organizers of the event. “Last year was the first year back after the pandemic and it was fantastic. We had about 100 cars and 500 - 600 people attended. Father’s Day is a good day to have it.”

Various community organizations get together to host the event and ensure there are plenty of activities for everybody attending. They include: Friends of the Rocklyn Arena, Rocklyn Agricultural Society, Centre Grey Lions Club, Rocklyn Skating Club, Rocklyn 4-H Clubs, Temple Hill United Church and the BigHead River FoodGrains Project.

A popular feature the day of the show is the agricultural society’s brunch. It includes servings at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Costs of $14 per adult and $7 for children four years and older. Children under four are free. Advanced tickets are recommended. Those interested in having brunch can contact Dianne Booker at 519-377-3573.

Other events include: a 50/50 draw, silent auction, a barbeque fundraiser for 4H, music and a beer garden.

In addition, Temple Hill United Church will host a church service at 11 a.m.

Reinders said everybody attending should expect to see a lot of great classic cars and antique tractors.

“We usually have over 100 vehicles from the early 1900s right up into the 1960 and 1970s,” he said. “The ball field gets filled up pretty fast.”

Part of the proceeds from the event are donated back to the Rocklyn Arena for future needs.
