11 new COVID-19 cases reported in The Blue Mountains today

There are currently 33 active case in the Town of the Blue Mountains and 145 active cases in both Grey and Bruce Counties

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 42 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today.

The 42 new cases are located in The Blue Mountains (11), Owen Sound (9), West Grey (5), Meaford (4), Hanover (3), Arran Elderslie (1), Chatsworth (1), Grey Highlands (1), Huron-Kinloss (1), Kincardine (1), Saugeen Shores (1), South Bruce (1), Southgate (1), as well as two cases with location information pending. 

The health unit has reported a total of 1,029 cases in the region to date. There are 145 active cases in both counties combined, and the health unit is currently tracking 512 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (34), Southgate (6), Grey Highlands (5), the Town of The Blue Mountains (33), Hanover (11), West Grey (11), Meaford (10), and Chatsworth (4).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 101 variant cases, 21 of which are active. 

There have been five deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there are currently four Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized, one in the region and three outside of Grey-Bruce.   

Of GBHU’s 1,029 cumulative cases, 879 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (147), Southgate (109), Grey Highlands (76), West Grey (50), Blue Mountains (82), Hanover (54), Meaford (26), Georgian Bluffs (11), Chatsworth (17). 

To-date the health unit has administered 43,458 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 6,380 doses, which will be focused on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
