Woman assaulted on Collingwood trail this afternoon

Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public's assistance in regards to an assault investigation in Collingwood. 

The assault took place shortly after 1 p.m. today on the walking trail in the area of the Awen' Gathering Place just north of the intersection of First St. and Cedar St. The female victim was walking on the trail when she was assaulted by a male described as wearing a black-coloured long trench coat, dark-coloured long beard and a grey-coloured toque. 

The female, who was not physically injured in the incident, was able to make her way to safety and called police. The OPP Canine Unit and members of the Emergency Response Unit (ERT) attended to assist front line members in the search, however the male was not located.
