WASAGA BEACH - On this coming Civic long weekend, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police will be out once again striving to ensure your travels both on our roadways and waterways are safe during this time.

From Friday, Aug. 3 to Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, Huronia West OPP members will be out not only in our identifiable cruiser, but on foot, on bicycles, on ATVs and in the water on our marine unit. On land we will be looking for the 'big four' collision causal agents; distracted driving, impaired operation, aggressive driving and seat belt compliance. On the water, we will be looking for again Impaired Operation, that the vessel has the required safety equipment on board and that the operator obeys the specific marine legislation.

In addition to the 'big four', Huronia West OPP will be focusing on the 'move over' law. Drivers are reminded if you see an emergency vehicle at the side of the road, please slow down and move over so they can do their jobs safely.

The Huronia West OPP asks all motorists to be patient and courteous while driving this long weekend.
